Our standard screen printing is done using traditional Eco Friendly plastisol inks. We are capable of printing up to 7 colors on light garments, and up to 6 colors on dark garments that require an underbase print. At American Icon, our standard prints are printed almost exclusively using pthalate free plastisol inks. These inks are manufactured to be the safest plastisol inks on the market. Our superior standard prints have a "soft -hand" feel and are often mistaken for water-based ink prints on light garments. We take the utmost pride in our printing and to this day stand by our saying; "We will not let any print leave our facility that we would not wear ourselves."

In today's apparel market, discharge printing has become very popular in many retail stores. Unlike regular inks, discharge inks penetrate the fabric and evaporate the dye from the shirt, leaving your design in its place. Printing with discharge inks offers an extremely soft hand on dark shirts, ultimately having no feel at all once washed. For this one color print technique, we offer both standard discharge (off-white/cream in color) as well as white discharge ink. This type of printing requires 100% cotton garments, and looks especially good with distressed or vintage art. If you are looking for a softer multi-color print on dark shirts, we offer a hybrid print technique in which we print a underbase with discharge ink, followed by standard plastisol inks over the top of it. This type of printing results in very vibrant colors on dark shirts, without the heaviness that a standard white plastisol underbase can have. The finished print has a feel similar to that of a standard print on a light colored shirt. This type of print also requires 100% cotton garments. Colors of your choice are mixed into discharge inks, when printed the shirt dyes are evaporated and bright colors are left in its place having little to no feel once washed. In years past, the only option for printing on the front of zip up sweatshirts was to print on the left chest.....this is no longer the case. American Icon offers high quality full front prints that print almost seamlessly over the zipper and pockets of zip up sweatshirts. This process works best on white and heather gray garments, but also looks great on black and dark zips up using the discharge underbase print technique described above.
